You are uniquely, powerfully and beautifully you. No one can BE you. No one has your smile. No one has experienced your joy and pain. No one completely sees the world as you do. No one can do what you do, how you do, and how you're supposed to do it.
As Dr. Seuss says, "Today, you are you! That's truer than true! There is no one alive that you - er than You! As a millenial, we have an insurmountable amount of information coming at us that could be catalyst to begin comparison. Social media allows to peek into people's lives. We're usually glancing at the super positive lifestyles of people who are fitness addicts, perfect bodies, happily married or in relationships, happily employed, successful materially, and world travelers. We see more and more young people with successful start-ups and successful six and seven figure earning online businesses. Whether you are a spectator or living that life, just keep staying focused on doing what you have you do. Learn to honor your journey, perspective and voice, DAILY! Once this becomes a practice, the need to always entangle yourself in what others are doing will diminish. I ask that you don't only honor your true you thru acknowledgement, but use your journey to help others or contribute to a greater purpose. I know at times when I've had a wondering eye of comparison, me just giving of myself in that moment always seemed to attract a statement of gratitude from another, and in turn would re - boost my own confidence. In general, people often want more than they have or something different, but just by walking in faith, learning to listen and trust your spirit, know that you will get to where you can go in life. When you catch yourself longing for what another has, whether it's their lifestyle, happiness, success, or relationship, give gratitude. When you find yourself comparing yourself to someone else, and thinking about the "if's", give gratitude. Speak life to yourself and repeat the following: I am grateful for the life I have lived and the path which I have travelled. Every part of me serves a greater purpose and I am thankful to recognize the power of my impact. I take joy in knowing that God designed only 1 me, and no one can do anything like I do. I love myself and honor that I will BE ME, BE Unique, BE Love, and BE Grateful. BE Love~ Tiffany W. |
