![]() Overwhelming does not even accurately sum up the pressure that women experience today. It's beautiful that this is a time of major opportunity. Women have the opportunity to be who ever they want (mostly in the United States) . They can choose to define their sense of womanhood, femininity, passion, commitment, creativity, and sexuality. Yet, just like when you go to a restaurant hungry, and have no idea of what you want, you become extremely indecisive and somewhat confused if you to go to a place that has way too many options. This is how I feel from time to time. As much as I choose to follow the % Commandments of Self love, embrace myself and choose to be me unapologetically, I get lost in all the rhetoric and images I see. Social media and blogs (yes even this one) allows any and everyone to share their voice or perspective. I can admit, as centered as I am in myself, sometimes I question my own womanhood and femininity. Every other week I see slut shaming, beauty enhancements, images of "boss women," articles about "10 ways to get a Mate", and a whole bunch of other madness. Media icons talking about slut shaming, sexual pride, posting nude photos, exclaiming accounts of sexual assault, viral videos of sexual harassment, women with 8 packs, other women embracing full figured-ness, and everything in between. Let's be honest, anyone can make a meme or a video and we don't really know what makes one piece of content go viral, and another not! What I do know is there's a lot of opinions out there and it's really overwhelming! It's Women's History Month and I'm so glad a good friend of mine approached me to participate in a social media campaign with the hashtag, #BeABundantLove helping to empower women through messages by women for women. It has totally come in a perfect time for me because as much as I embrace my vesselship and empower other women around self-love, there's never too much love I can embrace to give myself. So on that note, let's continue to embrace each other and just encourage one another to be whoever we want. let's quiet the voice that tells our sister's what they SHOULD be, do, wear, and look like. Also, please check out the campaign me and my friend are doing, #BeAbundantLove . We have a newsletter and so much more! Click here and help us spread these messages! BE You, Tiffany W. |
